Without proper organization, a rich music collection can turn into a disorganized heap in no time and you may forget what albums you have. eXtreme Music Manager can help you prevent such situations. You can use this software to catalog your music, regardless if you have it on CDs or on your computer, in MP3 format. The best part is that it gives you the possibility of retrieving all the information you need about an artist or album from the Internet, with nothing more than a simple click.

eXtreme Music Manager is free to try for a limited period of time, but without any functionality restrictions. It works on all popular Windows platforms and it can be installed in a few moments. The program asks only for .NET Framework 2.0 or a later edition, so you can run it on any computer, even with obsolete hardware.

The main user interface consists of several panels, on which you can browse through your albums and tracks, filter them, add songs to a queue and view a series of details about an artist or album. Besides general information about a stored element, you can also assign statuses, moods, styles, labels and other characteristics, which give you more filtering possibilities. The available filters are displayed in a tree structure, on the left side of the interface and you only need to select one in order to display their corresponding artists, albums or tracks.

New artist and album entries can be created on tabbed windows, on which you can specify a vast range of information. You can either type the relevant information yourself or you may click a button to retrieve it from the Internet. The program can search for information and images in different online databases, like Allmusic, Discogs, Freedb, or Musicbrainz. All you have to do is specify an album's title and the application will search for the information you want. Another possibility is to scan the album's bar code.

When you are done sorting your database, you can save it on the hard drive and back it up. It is also possible to mark certain elements as borrowed. You can specify who borrowed a certain album. To help you keep track of your albums, the software allows you to manage contacts and loaned items.

Pros

You can sort your entire music collection in a database. The software allows you to filter your albums and tracks and manage loaned items. It can also retrieve all the information you need, about an artist or album, from the Internet.

Cons

First time users may need a few minutes to experiment with the program's controls. A well organized music collection is exactly what you can have on your computer, while using eXtreme Music Manager.
